O.O

Is this that next step I was talking about? It's definitely your style, but coming from a whole new direction. It's strong, energetic, but it's also creepy in a good, enjoyable way. The kicks were great for this song, not too loud or too soft. You pretty much nailed it.

Something I could suggest to you is to layer the percussion. Make a faint pattern of snares and kicks to give more depth to the song. Oh, and finish this thing, it's amazing.

OpenLight responds:

Haha, yeah I'm definitely going to finish this! And thanks! I'll definitely do some layering once this is all done, too.

Just so that I'm clear, I tried like 5 other songs before this one, haha. They all sucked though and were just leeches of time. I'm so lucky that this one turned out the way it did, or at least it is turning out the way I'd hope it would be.

Great song, this right here.

You are definatly better at upbeat songs, dude. This one brought back the energy your songs have been lacking lately, and the way you're sequencing your percussion now is so much better.

Everything about this new track was amazing. I can't really give you tips on how to change and improve on your style though. It's up to you to figure out what next step your songs whould take.

OpenLight responds:

Thanks! I have been trying to make slower songs recently, but that's mainly because I've been too exhausted to even think about an upbeat song like this. I guess I'm just pumped up this weekend and I could actually attempt and complete this song.

Yeah, about the percussion, that was the first time I had actually done the 64th note snare thing haha. I've done 32nd before a few times, but I just figured out how to do what I actually put in here.

And about upping my style, I think I have already done like 2 or 3 styles throughout my songs, but if I mix them all together I get something like this song. I think I just need to get more comfortable with this kind of style, and it feels good to have something I can label "Techno" for once!

This song's a bit grimey.

As in it has a really dirty, powerful sound to it. While this song's a bit better than what you've been putting out lately, I still think there could be improvement.

I think you're much better at making upbeat songs, this lowkey pattern of songs you've started to follow isn't as engaging.

OpenLight responds:

Yeah, like I put in the other review, this was mainly slow because I've been exhausted. But, I also used this to try out new styles, and I tried to make it suitable for video game background music by not making it too complicated.

Yeah, my newer song was me going all out. This song was me sighing out a song.

This is very nice.

Much better than your last WIP, dude. This one is a little more energetic, and has a bit of roughness that's appropriate to it.

I can't say this will be, when finished, your best song ever, but it's very good so far.

Oh wow, man.

This is niiiiiiice. It's spontaneous, yet predictable to provide comfort to the listener.

Could've been longer, but it's a great listen regardless.

Numi responds:

^_^ Glad you like it, man. I know it's kinda short, after uploading this I got some more ideas to add, but I'm SOOOO lazy and in the middle of trying to master some new techniques before the NGADM starts. By the way, good luck in the NGADM yourself!

Hmmmmm....

I don't know about this one, it's a bit rough sounding at first. Fortunately, it picks up pretty well.

Maybe make a few editions here and there, you know.............

Haha, just let me know how I can improve. I mainly uploaded this for pointers.

MOOAAR!

This this fun stuff to listen to, OL. The energy is there, and the beat is so.......IS THAT A GUITAR SYNTH!?

While the song slowed down toward the middle, the Rock section picked it back up. Great stuff there.

OpenLight responds:

Ha thanks. I tried to slow it down some but not too much, and it was hard getting the end to work out well. I love the guitar in this just because it's the first time I've really done a "guitar solo" in one of my songs. Haha.

God, that bassline......

That is so grimey, and it flows so well with the guitar in this loop. Add in the seamless breaks and glitches, and you have 49 seconds of mysterious, wild-sounding music that I just unwittingly listened to for the past 30 minutes.

Love it.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Awesome that it could lock you in for a good 30 minutes. I too like the bassline in this song. Its actually what came first, too, then I built over it.

Oh, please do.......

This is amazingly wild, dude. Please finish this song, now.

If I can give some advice for finishing it, I'd suggest lowering the volume levels a bit. Otherwise, this is bound to sound amazing.

OpenLight responds:

I tried to do what you said, but I'm not sure if I fixed the problem you heard. I'll probably post the full version before I go to bed, but that really just depends on how quickly I can make a good closing.

I always get this time-lapse feel from your music.

Like I can see two people walking with each other on the sidewalk, moving at a normal pace, while the world blurs by.

I always get taken to the same place with your music, and it's a comfortable feeling. Don't change what you do.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

I'm honored to have created such a cozy place for your ears and mind to bundle up in.

Its great to be able to create imagery with sound. A tangible place via sound wave; the vibrations constructing imaginary yet, seemingly tangible structures.
