Goddamn.

You've got some skills, yo. You've definitely got a lot of atmosphere in this song, and you build up energy within it with the percussion, as well as the arrangements of your strings and piano.

I usually shirk away from General Rock because too much of this is the same garbage, but this is just the opposite. Very nice job.

Wow, dude.

The beat starting out was really funky, but it was the break into the piano that impressed me. A transition that sharp broke up the monotony of the song and brought it life.

Nice stuff, can't wait for the finished version.

The first second snagged me.

This was a great listen. The use of your 8bit instruments really brought the track alive, and you spared no expense in hitting every note just right.

Also, that beat worked so well with the calm, inviting tone of the song. It could be a little quieter, but that's just my personal taste. All in all, I enjoyed listening to this the four times I did.

:P Thanks, man! I was wondering if this song was kind of out of the normal 8-bitsy genre, because normally people don't use the chords in 8-bit songs. Style, not instruments, as my brother tells me...
Glad someone loves it. I spent a lot of time looking for VSTi's and stuff. Have you ever tried Peach?

Noice

I was actually thinking if this song would get an update yesterday. This is definitely better than the original, though. The refreshed piano and synths were great, and that smooth drum beat sounded great.

Definitely a good remake.

OpenLight responds:

Thanks! I made it because of a suggestion Dan posted on the Game 3 contest thread. I'm waiting to post this to the thread though because I've already posted some songs on it today.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhlllllllllllllllll...

This song feels a bit lacking in comparison to your other recent song. Maybe it's the fact that the drums don't really change throughout the track, or the actual amount of energy produced by the drums in contrast to the melody, which sounds rather downtempo (although my drums always abuse this same factor). It could be that the melody never changes, but I think the chord progressions you introduce to the song should make up for it.

I don't know. Something about this doesn't make it as memorable as Infiltrating the Lab.

OpenLight responds:

Yeah I gave up about halfway through the song. I got reaaally bored.

Hawhawhawhawhaw

I'm secretly subscribed to you on YT, and when I noticed you favorited Sax Man, I knew something big was coming. Needless to say, you didn't disappoint.

The mellow feel of this track, combined with the hard beats you brought in and those sax samples made this thing such an exciting and nostalgic experience.

Love it.

YOU SO SNEAKY!!!!!! Just popped up an 8bit track on the YT that'll be comin over to newgrounds in the morning ;)

Holy...Wut!?

You definitely made a leap from the quality of your last song. This song's energy is just everywhere, and that's a good thing. It's stuff as unexpectedly wild as this that definitely makes people want to dance.

Good luck with the contest.

OpenLight responds:

Thanks, Retro!

Yeah I tried some new stuff. Glad it worked out haha.

Love this

Definitely keeps up a stupendous amount of energy throughout, and the beats work great with the melodies.

WooHoo, review!

OpenLight responds:

Wooo!

Haha thanks both for the review and for using "stupendous" in that review. It's a word I had forgotten about and fully intend on using more now.

So much going on...

Its just an explosion of glitches and melodic elements, scattered wildly yet deliberately throughout the song. I love the unpredictable nature of it all.

And yet, the most inviting thing about the song was that piano sample at the end. I regularly listen to your music, so that sample was very familiar to me. I love this song, in short.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Glad you like it man. This was just something I did for fun, long ago, nothing too serious. A sort of ordered-Chaos.

I always wonder what people think when they first listen to some of my music. I suppose I'm used to it after working on a piece for a good long while. I know the flow, whats going to happen, etc, etc.

Wonder what i'd be like to have amnesia then, come back and listen to the music you made, unaware. Heh.

Definitely an amazing song.

I'm usually all over percussion in songs, but the way you made this so amazing without is is beyond me. Throughout its duration, wave after wave of bittersweet happiness envelop me, and it's just awesome. It's exactly what I'd expect to hear in a really awesome video game.

OpenLight responds:

Thanks!

I almost forgot I hadn't put in percussion, hahaha.
