RetromanOMG's News

I'm really having trouble getting projects off the ground, so that's why I haven't up[dated in a few months. That said, I am currently working on the first track from my EP, and to tide myself over, I'm considering doing a few remixes and covers.

...That's it.

So, if you haven't already, please give my newest upload, "Starbound," a listen!

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/591799

And on another note, I'd like to talk briefly about why this song even exists. So, a few weeks ago, I put some of my songs on my MP3 player, and I was really, really displeased with how they sounded on my car's stereo. They sound just fine to me on my headphones when I'm at my computer, but playing any of my songs back-to-back with those of other, more talented artists on a more sophisticated sound system shows this really awful disparity in sound quality that I couldn't stand.

"I miss when I was an Astronaut," the song that has been remade as "Starbound," was, among my most strongly disliked song in recent memory, but after reopening the project file and making some major changes (among them, changing that awful name), I wound up with something I was more than happy to hear come up on my shuffle. And I think I'm going to give that revisionist treatment to a few of my older songs in the next couple of weeks. The changes to certain songs aren't going to be as dramatic as can be heard in my newst upload, but I at least want them to be higher quality than what I usually put out, as well as get down a solid mastering process I can apply to future works.

(also I'm going to start working on an EP when these remakes are done)

Hey. I've been very preoccupied the last four months. Between work, school, and my personal life, there just isn't time for music like there used to be. But, NGADM 2014 is in full swing, and I've been accepted into the preliminaries. Last year, I made the cut for the contest as well, but was simply unable to contribute anything and forfeited. This year, though, I am determined to give my all, starting with  my upcoming submission and (hopefully) powerful conclusion to the trio of sad songs I've made over the last year, starting with "Alone and Adrift." I currently have a portion of the third verse uploaded to Soundcloud, which you can listen if you follow this link. https://soundcloud.com/retromanomg/ngadm-submission-snip

And now, future news. In the next year or two, I want to release an EP featuring my greatest works yet, then perhaps retire the Retroman name. I'll still keep making music, but I came up with this name when I was 14. I've kinda outgrown it, and I really just want to move forward. But that's future news; that transition's still a long ways away. If you actually read through this whole thing and/or listened to my work in progress, thanks!

For the trilogy my new song will be concluding, go here:

I made a new song, finally, and I think you're gonna enjoy it! Fast-paced, heavy-hitting Dubstep, with some World Music elements thrown in, to keep the listener guessing. Please, tell me what you think!

Hey, reader. Firstly, I'd like to direct you to my newest song, "I Miss When I Was An Astronaut."

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/569309

Secondly, I've been giving a lot of thought to my music, namely the possibility of making an EP. It's something I've wanted to do since I started making these bleep bloop sounds on my computer back in 2010, but now I think I'd like to give it a go. If and when I make it, it will be available for free on Newgrounds. Additionally, I have so many people I'd love to work with on this project; I just need to get in touch with them.

Expect nothing in regards to this EP for a long time. This is just me getting it out of my head that I want to make one eventually. It's enough work right now making even one song, I'll need time to make an EP. Thank you for your time, and I encourage you to share your thoughts on my new upload.

I've been watching a lot of anime in my downtime, and among them is Berserk. Besides the action and the story, my favorite thing about this show is its soundtrack, which inspired me to remix one of its tracks.

You should totally click that link. I spent a couple days making a remix to "Gattsu," the main character's theme. Unfortunately, because it samples the original, I can't upload it to Newgrounds. I currently have downloads enabled for it, but will be turning them off after about a week or so. If you would like to share your thoughts, leave a comment either on Soundcloud or in this news post! And if you like it, download it! Add it to your playlist!

My laptop just blue screened. I've had it about four years, so I guess it's about time it started quitting on me, but I'm not ready to be without it just yet. I've managed to get it back up and running, but its time is definitely starting to run out, sadly. Hopefully, I can get the next few songs out before its time to say goodbye for a few months. In the meantime, I guess it's time to join the likes of my idol, Lapse, and invest in a gaming computer.

My Ambient/Classical track, "Recovered," has made the front page! I'm really happy right now; I've never made front page before. I encourage you to listen to "Recovered" and tell me what you think of it.

One of my all-time favorite songs is "Sing," by The Carpenters. Lately, it's been finding its way into my mind, so I decided to open up FL and remix the silly thing.

I absolutely enjoy the original, and I had a lot of fun doing this remix, but I can't put it on Newgrounds. Would you be so kind as to listen to it on my Soundcloud? If you don't have an account there, you can leave any thoughts you may have on this blog post.
